    Design of continuous heterogeneously-catalyzed process for acylation reactions in vitamin synthesis

    The pharmaceutical and fine chemical industry remains one of the most ineffective sectors of the chemical industry. In recent years more attention is giving to the so-called atom efficiency. By replacing traditional Brønsted and Lewis acids with zeolitic catalysts could tremendously improve the “greenness” of the process. These microporous alumina-silicates can be tailor-made to the desired synthesis by tuning specific pore structures and acid-base properties. In my project I study the relationship between material properties and catalytic activity on industrial vitamin intermediates in continuous flow operation.
